KCF Technologies is a small privately held engineering technology corporation founded in downtown State College in November, 2000 by three Mechanical Engineering researchers from Penn State University. KCF maintains a research focus on smart material devices, vibration and noise, performs consulting work primarily related to noise control and designing quiet structures, and sells vibration and noise control sensing and testing products.

Description:
We are looking for a reliable, mechanically inclined, self reliant individual to join our small, fast paced, entrepreneurial company. The job entails machining and assembling prototypes using manual mill, lathe, and hand tools, telephone product support with customers, and computer skills. Position Summary:
Lead Research Engineer - Project leader for microprocessor development
KCF Technologies, Inc. (State College, PA) seeks to hire a full-time employee to perform embedded software development and device integration under a Phase II Navy STTR research contract, and to take a lead role on other ongoing and new projects. The candidate should be dynamic and adaptable to a lead role in a small and entrepreneurial research technology company. Required skills include microprocessor and device development, input/output communications and system integration. Desirable characteristics include innovation, entrepreneurial independence, multitasking, project ownership, and exceptional written and oral communication skills. Additional relevant skills include vibration, mechanical design, and underwater devices.
Pay:
50,000.00 - 80,000.00 USD / Per Year Plus Incentives/Options
Education:
MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Job Purpose:
Produces integrated circuit, microcontrollers and electromechanical designs and modifications by researching and developing circuits and electromechanical engineering techniques and approaches; verifying and validating designs; supporting project implementation.
Duties:
- Designs and prototypes integrated circuits and electromechanical devices by studying project objectives, priorities, and requirements; analyzing user and potential user input; evaluating similar and related products and systems; identifying and establishing performance standards involving circuit design, I/O, data communication, thermal, shock, vibration, acoustic, and radiation inputs.
- Verifies, validates and implements circuit and electromechanical design performance by establishing reliability, maintainability, and durability test standards; testing simulations and prototypes; performing debugging procedures; analyzing test data; identifying, isolating, and resolving performance problems.
- Investigates and prepares competitive research proposals for federal and industrial opportunities.
- Organizes development projects by identifying short-term and long-range issues; preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources.
- Prepares design reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing design data and trends.
