Integration of KCF Smart Tether with Kongsberg Mesotech MS1000

(State College, PA)   KCF Technologies is working with Kongsberg Mesotech, Ltd. to provide Smart Tether positioning for tripod sonar systems. KCF has developed an integration package which allows the Smart Tether to be used between the topside interface box and the sonar head. The Smart Tether software then calculates the position of the sonar head and supplies a live GPS position fix to the Kongsberg Mesotech MS1000 software. This allows the sonar head to be easily and accurately positioned in all conditions, even if there are currents moving the head or if the head drifts relative to the GPS marker as it is deployed.

   

Because the sonar head has accurate Smart Tether positioning at all times, it is easy for the user to geo-reference targets found with MS1000, thereby making it easier to reacquire those targets with an ROV or diver for further investigation. Position data is also stored both in the Smart Tether data file and in the MS1000 recorded file, providing numerous options for post-processing and documentation of operations.
